Aqui vai uma revisão de there is e there are pra vocês

Em português, usamos o verbo ter para falar que existe alguma coisa. Por exemplo, falamos “Tem um carro em frente a minha casa” ou “Tem muita comida na geladeira”, na verdade, queremos dizer que “há” ou que “existe” mas no dia-a-dia o verbo “ter” dá conta do recado.

O mesmo não acontece em inglês, para falar que algo “existe” usamos o verbo “There To Be”. A diferença é que usamos there is para uma só coisa, pessoa ou situação. quando dizemos que há mais de uma coisa ou pessoa, usa-se a forma plural there are

Observe:

AFIRMATIVO	EXEMPLO	TRADUÇÃO
There is / There’s há, existe	There’s an Indian boy in my classroom.	Háum home theater no meu quarto.Há um indiano na minha sala de aula.
There are há, existem	There are6 chairs in my living room.There are two shopping malls in my city.	Há6 cadeiras na minha sala de estar.Há dois shoppings na minha cidade.

A negativa funciona apenas com a flexão do verbo To be:

There is = There isn’t

There are = There aren’t

NEGATIVO	EXEMPLO	TRADUÇÃO
There is NOT / There isn’t	There isn’ta home theater in my bedroom.There isn’t any Indian boy in my classroom.	Não háum home theater no meu quarto.Não há nenhum indiano na minha sala de aula.
There are not/ There aren’t	There aren’t6 chairs in my living room.There aren’t two shopping malls in my city.	Não há 6 cadeiras na minha sala de estar.Não há dois shoppings na minha cidade.

Na interrogative, segue-se a mesma lógica do To be: invertemos a ordem do To Be com o There:

There is = Is there…?

There are = Are there…?

Não se esqueça que em inglês os milhares são divididos por "," não por ".", como estamos acostumados aqui no Brasil. Seguindo a mesma lógica os decimais em inglês também são invertidos usa-se ".".
